Camp Out 4:15pm • sept 30 • sWFc

If it isn’t hard enough being a gay teenager in the midwest, imagine being a gay christian teen. With the derision of society, family and the church against them, ten gay christian teenagers struggle to confront the questions of faith and their burgeoning sexuality in light of what their church and christian society has told them. This documentary follows them as they attend the first gay and lesbian christian youth camp in the woods of Minnesota. With very intimate and, many times enlightening moments, we follow these teens as they confront their faith with one another and eventually finding hope and friendship. The directors of the film employ honest interviews, and quiet observations to create a rather warm documentary. For those who find the road between religion and sexuality impossible to travel, this documentary shows that for some the road is passable.– James Montaño (USA, 2005, 78 min, dir: Kirk Marcolina & Larry Grimaldi)
